The Role Of The Sound-Absorbing And Vibration-Damping Cotton Inside The Muffler

Upon dismantling the muffler, we can observe a large amount of cotton-like material inside. This material is composed of high-temperature-resistant glass fiber, which is filled into the gaps within the muffler. It serves the dual purpose of eliminating sound and reducing exhaust vibration when exhaust gases pass through. It is an indispensable component of the muffler's interior. If there is severe water accumulation inside the muffler, it will be absorbed by the sound-absorbing cotton. In low-temperature environments during winter, this can easily lead to freezing.
